Sun Oven

Cooking for an entire
village using the power of the sun

· Afghan women bake traditional naan bread with a Sun Oven, delivered in July 2002

· each day, enough bread is baked to feed several hundred children in schools outside Kabul, and in Aibak

· reduces reliance upon oil, gas, wood and other scarce and expensive fuels; improves family health, builds self-reliance

· micro-bakeries established worldwide, including Honduras, Uganda, Haiti, Afghanistan and the USA

· potential for self-creating, self-sustaining micro-enterprises throughout the developing world

"One man looked at it and said, 'Now where do I put the kerosene to light it, and the charcoal?' He did not believe me when I said, 'The sun will do it.'"
